Complete Moral Story of wood cutter
Once there was a wood cutter. He used to go to a nearby jungle to cut Wood. He sold it in the market and bought food for his wife and children. One day he was cutting wood on the bank of a river. His axe slipped and fell into the river. He began to weep. He was very sad over his loss. In the meantime, the god mercury appeared.
He said to the woodcutter, "Why are you so sad?". "I have lost my axe with which I earned my daily bread",said the woodcutter. The god mercury dived into the river and brought out a golden axe. The woodcutter refused to take it as it was not his. The god mercury dived again and brought out a silver axe. The woodcutter again refused to own it as it was not his axe.
The god mercury dived for the third time and brought out an axe made of iron. The woodcutter was delighted to see his axe. He shouted gladly, " This is my axe". The god mercury was so pleased with his honesty that he gave the woodcutter all the three axes.
Moral: "Honesty is the best policy'".
