A salt-merchant loaded his donkey with the bags of salt and took it to a village. On their journey to the village, they came across a stream. The donkey walked into the shallow waters of the stream. Suddenly he slipped into the water. Some salt was dissolved. The weight of the salt became less. The donkey felt relieved.
Next day, the donkey, repeated the trick. He purposely fell in the stream and again dissolved the salt. This caused huge loss to the merchant. Now the merchant decided to teach the donkey a lesson. He loaded the donkey with bales of cotton the next day and drove it towards the stream. The donkey, as usual, played the same trick and sat in the shallow waters.
The cotton absorbed water and became heavy. The donkey was shocked to find the load too heavy to be carried and felt uneasy and uncomfortable. On this, the merchant gave sound beating to him. The Donkey realized his foul game and mended himself. He did not play that trick again.
Moral Lesson :
As you sow, so shall you reap.
